    Notes:

    He was a Preacher. When the Civil War expanded into Texas he was threatened
    because he would not join the Confederate Army and was almost hung when
    officers came to his home to recruit him, but one officer knew him and
    convinced the others that it was only due to his religion that he would not
    fight. He continued to preach against slavery and upon another threat he moved
    to Calif. until the end of the War. He then returned to Texas where he later
    died. Descendants live in Ca. where lines from his daughters continue.

    Jeremiahs Will recorded in Fayette Co., Ky. reads as follows:

    "in the name of God Amen, I Jeremiah Prather of the county of Fayette and
    state of Kentucky, being weak of body but of perfect mind & memory, Thanks be
    given unto God, Calling unto mind the mortality of my bidy & knowing that it
    is appointed for all men once to die, do make & ordain this my last will and
    testament. That is to say, principally & first of all, I give & recommend my
    soul into the hand of the almight God that gave it, & my body I recommend to
    the Earth to be buried in decent Christiam burial at the discretion of my
    wife. Nothing doubting but at the General resurrection I shall receive the
    same again, by the mighty power of God & His teaching. Such worldly Estate
    wherwith it has pleased God to bless me in this life, I give, devise & dispose
    of the same in the following manner & form.
    First of all it is my desire that my just debts should be paid; I give &
    bequeath to Anna Prather, my dearly beloved wife, the whole of my estate, both
    real & personal, and I do hereby utterly disallow, revoke & disannul all &
    every other former Testaments, Wills, Legacies (ic), Bequests & Executors by
    me in any wise before named willed & bequeathed. Ratifying & confirming this &
    no other to be my last will & testament. In witmess whereof I have herunto set
    my hand & seal this ninth day of Sept. in the year of our Lord, 1806.
