    Notes:

    Baruch and his twin brother Basil were born at "Orphans Gift Plantation" in
    Prince George Co., MD. and later moved with their parents to "Bradford's Rest
    Plantation" in Lower Potomac Hundred, Frederick Co., MD. (not far from
    Rockford, MD.)

    Baruch served in the Rev. War as a Sargent, 5th Co., Lower
    Battalion, Montgomey Co., Md. under Col. John Murdock, returned on July 15
    1780.

    He died testate. The court ordered three men to appraise his estate.
    Ref. Will book B, 1809 Fayette Co., Ky. The estate consisted of:
    526 Pounds, 11 Shillings, and 4 Pence.

    When Baruch's wife died the court had her estate appraised:
    1. Slaves consisting of "one negro woman Nelly, about 30 yrs. old".
    2. Milley and boy child, Young.
    3. Ester, 80 yrs. old, "worst than nothing"
    4. "Boy" Aaron, 11/12 yrs. old, and George 6 yrs.

    Baruch bought 166 Acres of Henry Bell's 3000 acre military warrent, in 1804.
    Lexington , Fayette Co., Ky. (Spears, Jessamine Co., Ky.)
    This became known as "The Home Place". It was later sold to Baruchs son,
    Thomas and then in 1859 to his son, Thomas.
    It is now owned by Fayette Co. and is used as a nature preserve/park
    where nature walks are held by the local schools. (1991)
    The old plantation home still stands but is in need of much repair.
    Fayette Co. has future plans to restore the home. Today (1992) its
    porch is missing, but the red brick walls remain. The kitchen was added
    to the structure sometime after Baruch died.
    The house is very much like another Prather / Prater plantation home which
    was built about 10 yrs earlier in Lenior City, Tn. by Benjamin Franklin Prater
    (Prather). This house is in complete restoration and is one of the most
    beautiful that I have seen. It was built in 1797 and has its large white
    collums, porch, and the same red brick. Its odd to see how the two home
    resemble each other. (could they have been built by the same builder?)

    Baruch moved from Maryland to Kentucky ca.1812
    He settled a Jack's Creek Pike (abt. 6 miles from Lexington, Ky.)
    Baruch's brother, Walter married Sharaha's sister Ann Higgins.
    Descendants of this family continue today in Lexington, Ky.

    Ceremony. Arons wife, the daughter of Jonathan Prather, was his cousin.
    In the Marriage documents it list him as Allen Prather.

    On 25 June 1700 Ninian Beall conveyed to Thomas 56 acres, part of a tract of
    land called St. andrews.

    Martha, wife of Thomas Prather and dau. of Thomas Sprigg, in her father's Will
    written 9 May, 1704 received one third of a parcel of land containing 500
    acres, the Manor of Collinton, on the side next to William Prather's where he
    now lives.

    Lyle Jane Prater (now Smith) mother of Col. Thomas Prather mentioned him in
    her Will written 27 July, 1710

    Martha Prather, widow of Thomas Prather, on 29 Apr., 1719 conveyed to her sons
    Thomas, John, Phillip and Aaron Prather, when they are eighteen years old.
    Thomas, John and phillip each received ten pounds sterling money and Aaron
    received fourty pounds sterling money.

    Martha Prater (now Yoakley), widow of Thomas Prater, conveyed to her John
    Smith Prather on 28 Aug., 1729, a one third part of a tract of land, in Prince
    George's Co., Md. called "Spriggs Request.

    Thomas Prather was a Col. in the Frederick Militia and in most records is
    referred to as Col. Thomas Prather.

    Thomas Sprigg of Northampton - Thomas and Martha settled on the "Northampton
    Plantation".

    The Sprigg family were close friends of Thomas Prater (Prather) who was the
    first Prater to come to America in 1622.

    He sold this 1707 to Col. Henry Darnall.
    He also received land from his step father, John Smith. Part of the
    inheritance of "Orphans Gift", and other lands that came from his paternal
    grandmother. In his Will he gave each of his children one shilling and the
    rest of his large plantation estate to his granddaughter, Rachel Dorsett and
    one cow to his grandson, William Prather (son of Jonathan III.)
