    Notes:

    John joined the newly formed 12th Ala. Confed. Calvery in 1863.
    This would put him at the age of 18. He was musterd out when the 12th was
    disbanded near the end of the war near the North Carolina border. Civil War
    He then moved to Texas shortly after his marriage in 1866/7.
    They settle north of Melisa, TX. and south of Van Alstyne, TX. where they
    developed the land and created a ranch. Then in 1879 they moved to Cross Cut.
