Notes:
John and his sister were orphaned in TX.
They were brought up by the Wall family.
The Prathers, Walls, and Adams families moved west and settled in
Cass Co., TX. some between Sept. 1859 and early 1860.
They lived in Cass Co., TX. & Wise Co., TX. & Cooke Co., TX. before
branches of the family moving to Okla.
A Family Story:
When John Britton Wall died (husband of Johns sister) Mary Frances
(Prather) Wall offered her brother, John H. Prather, 1/2 of the farm if he
would help run it and the mill.
(note: more likely 1/2 of the profit from the farm & mill).
As the story prceeds; Mary Frances Walls son came back from college
and helped her run the farm and mill.
John H. Prather very well may have run the farm and mill but did not
keep up with the taxes because as deeds and records indicate the mill
and farm were repossessed for taxes and Mary Frances Walls son made
arrangements to pay the taxes using a personal note, the farm and mill
was then transferred into his name. He then continued running
