    He farmed in the Corinth, TX. community.
    He was also part owner of a syrup mill with Johnny Davis and Uncle Doc Bailey.
    The mill cost $15.00 when it was purchased. They often made as many as 350
    gallons of Ribbon Cane Syrup each year which sold for $1. per gallon.
    Parker Davis also operated a blacksmith shop which he had ordered from Sears
    Roebuck for $9.00 He sharpened plows for friends, neighbors and relatives
    without charge.
    He supported the local Baptist Church.

    Richard moved most of his family from MO. to Texas between 1881 and 1882.
    Richard & Sarah brought their children Richard and Inias by train to Elmo, TX.
    and settled in the area between Elmo and College Mound.
    The older children of Richard and Elizabeth moved to Texas by covered wagons.
    Calvin H., John M., Elvira R. and her husband Marion Duncan, Robert E. and his
    wife Melissa (Dickerson) Davis.)
    Also traveling with the wagon train were: Will Cross and his wife Suel
    (Stanger) Cross. Suel (Stanger) Cross and Margaret (Stanger) Davis, Calvin
    H. Davis's wife were sisters.
