    Notes:

Elizabeth married Jesse Brashear. Some researchers believe she married in
Maryland, but we are not sure. Records lead us to believe that she was married
in Maryland or in N.C. ca. 1760.

We do know that her father, Phillip, was wealthy and traveled from Maryland to
as far South as North Carolina and his son Phillip II, traveled as far south
as South Carolina (and settled in Pickens Dist.,S.C.).
From records that have found, we assume that Elizabeth and Jesse may
also have traveled between Maryland , N.Carolina, S.Carolina and Fla.

The Praters (Prathers) and Jesse Brashear were of the Colonial Gentry and very
well placed individuals of the period, free to travel without the restriction
of funds or authority. The Praters were plantation owners and conducted
business up and down the coast.

Jesse Brashear may have had members of his family in Fla. ? ?
Some of the Brashear family researchers have told me that the records
indicate that he and Elizabeth had children in Maryland.
It is certain that they were married and Elizabeth died in Fla.

To help you understand a little about the history of this part of Fla.
I have included the following information: The Spainish had a Colony there
shortly after 1539 and then the French established a colony in 1564. The
French and Spanish fought over it for years when in 1607 the English extended
there domain into Flordia. The English extended there hold on parts of Fla. in
1670 with their indian allies and by 1763 Fla. was formally a British Colony.
This includes what is now part of Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.
One reason the research on the Brashear family becomes so difficult and
information is almost impossible to find may be the fact that they were
living in this part of the country when many records changed hands so often
    or were distroyed.

Jesse Brashear died cira 1788 and Elizabeth (Prater) Brashers remarried
    George Freeland Sr.
She died cira 1804 in W.Fla.
