    Washington Dist., Pendleton Co., S.C. later became Pickens Co., S.C. in 1826.

    S.C. Troops in the Confedercy. Vol 2 -937.7:
    G.W.Prather enlisted by Captain Pitts Sept. 16, 1863 Greenboro, N.C.
    This must have been another G.W. Prather because G.W.L.Prather was dead.
    G.W.L.Prather must have died in 1858/9 because his wife was shown
    head of household in the 1860 cenus.
    G.W.L. Prather purchased land in Elbert Co., GA. just before 1860 and
    it was sold 1 year later due to tax claims..... G.W.L. Prather must
    have died shortly after purchasing this land and must have died
    or was killed while returning home to the Dalton, GA. area.

    1880 census Clinton, Bosque Co., TX. his wife was listed as a widow, thus
    George died before 1880. In 1860 GA. census she was also shown as
    head of household.... thus G.W.L. Prather must have died before 1860.

    Ch: Thomas, Nancy Lavinia, Robert Ferson Jones, Lucy Lane.

    In Varnell Station, Dalton, Murray Co., GA. in 1864 where his daughter and
    youngest son, Robert witnessed the enlistmaent of their older brothers (Thomas
    O.Prater) enlistment and pension application into the Confederate Army so
    that Thomas could claim his pension.

    The Prathers were also in Cedar Bayou, TX. where, daughter Nancy L. married
    Joseph Ellender, a schooner Captain of Cedar Bayou in 1868.
    Also listed in Cedar Bayou, Harris Co., TX. in 1870 census (Sub - Div. #35
    (Cedar Bayou is now known as Baytown, TX.)
    Hannah must have come west with a relative.... possibly a Prater.
    The Praters had established themselves in Texas before Hannah moved
    there. (George Prater, believed to be Uncle of G.W.L. Prater, and son of
    Benjamin Franklin Prater & Nancy Laine, had already moved to Texas and
    established a large ranch).

    She came to Texas from GA. with her daughter and two sons, first settleing
    near Goose Creek and later in the Cedar Bayou community. (now Baytown,
    Harris Co., TX.)

    She is listed in 1860 GA. census as head of household.... Seamstress.
    She is listed in 1880 TX. census as head of household.... Seamstress.
