    Mortuary Warrant letter written July 28, 1925 to C.L. Christian of Decatur,
    TX. rejecting the approval of the Mortuary Warrant because it is over 100 days
    ago that S.E. died from the Comptroller.

    Letter to Hon. Sam Houston Terrell in Austin, TX. 25 July, 1925 from C.L.
    Christian (undertaker) asking for the state to pay the mortuary costs of S.E.
    Prather and says that he knows the time limit has passed but Mrs. Maggie
    Prather as she did'nt know fo the time limit and was left a widow and is need
    of the warrant amount.

    Letter to Lon A. Smith, State Comptroller, Austin, TX. on 17 Sept., 1923:
    From: County Judge S.M. Ward of Wise Co., TX.
    Enclosing the application for Civil War pension without an affidavit from
    witness who served with him as he dos'nt know of a single living has not
    applied fefore now because he has been able to get by without it but for past
    three or four years he has not been able to work his farm and it has not made
    enought to pay taxes on it.

    Name of S.E. Prather not found on rolls of Co., K, 3rd Mo. Cav CSA, which roll
    cover (partially), period of 11 Nov., 1862 to 29 Feb., 1864.
    The prisoner of War records show a man named S.E. Prather, private, Co., K
    6th MO. Cav. CSA, surrendered at New Orleans, LA. 26 May, 1865 and paroled at
    Shervport, LA. 14 June, 1865. Name not found on rolls of said Co., K, 6th
    MO. Cav. / No other record found. The 6th MO. Cav. was at one time known as
    the 3rd. MO. Cav.

    From State of Mo., County of Macon:
    "I, Talton Holman, a resident of Callao, Macon Co., MO. on my oath state that
    I have known Silas Edward Prather, for about seventy years and know of my own

    and Col. Hopper this of Shelby Brigade, and Marmadukes Division."

    opinion was her ailments were chronic myocarditis.

    Maggie's nephew filled out all of the paperwork after her death, thus
    it is believed that she and Silas had no children.
    Maggie's nephew was Edd Chapman of Greenwood, TX.
