  He was a Confed. soldier Co. H, 12 Reg. Alabama Infintry. He was not listed in the 1850 census living with his parents. In 1850 he was age 16 and living away from home. (prob. a laborer in another household). 1860 census shows him as Lorenzo D. Praytor, Joy Bluff, Morgan Co., Ala. He is sometime confused with the son of Thomas Prater of Floyd Co., Ky., he was also named Lorenzo D. Prater (Prather). He was also called "Ranzie" but these are two different persons.
