  !His dau.Adeliza founded a famous abbey,in the year of grace 1140,near a passage through the river Axe,and thereof named the Ford,formerly called Herebath.The property was given to him by William the Conqueror,a relative of his wife.(a niece).Thi s information was from Barons by Tenure.The Noble Families give her as the Daughter-in-law,and gives her father so I chose this version.Wm.de la Pole gives his name as Richard de Ripariis which changed to de Redvers,to whom Henry I gave Tiverto n and many other things,and made him Earl of Devon.
