    • !2nd but eldest surviving son,by first wife.On 11th July 1214,he offered 15000 marks for such seisin of the lands of the Earl William de Mandeville,as Geoffrey de Say his father had on the day King Richard disseised him of it,and
      on 5th Aug.following had livery of his father's lands.He joined the Barons against John,and was one of the Guardians of Magna Carta.All his lands were granted to Peter de Creon,17th Oct.1215.On 9th Nov.1215,with Richard Earl of Clare and Robert Fi tsWalter,he had lettersof safe conduct to come to speak with the royalist delegates,regarding peace between the king and the barons.Having returned to fealty.he had restoration,14th Sep.1217.He was present at the seige of Bytham Castle in 1321;an d on 20th Oct.1221,had a grant for a weekly
      market at Sawbridgeworth,Herts.He confirmed his father's grants to the Hospital of St John,granting the manor of Saddlescombe in exchange for West Greenwich,which his father had formerly given;and also confirmed the grant to
      Begeham Abbey of a third part of Brockley,Kent,granted by his ancestor Wachelin Maminot.
