Falls Over Dead at Depot
King Prater, a farmer who lived near Newcastle, died on a baggage truck at
the Santa Fe depot early Monday morning. He had been at Wynnewood, Okla
attending to some business and was on his way home. He alighted from the
4 a.m. train and went to the baggage car and got a dog he was taking home.
Tying the dog to a baggage truck, he sat down on the truck, remarking he
wasn't feeling very well. Suddenly he toppled over, expiring in a few
minutes. Heart desease, superinduced by epileptic fits was the cause.
Luther (Martin Luther) Prater, his son, came in Monday morning to meet him
and the two were going on a cattle-buying expedition. He did not know of his
father's death until told of it at the post-office, and was greatly overcome.
he says his father was formerly effected with epilepsy, but had been well for
some years.
Mr. Prater was some 50 years of age, and leaves a wife and seven children.
His body was taken to McCune Jackson & Co's establishment and prepared for
burial, preparatory to being taken to his home.
