"Would Not Care For Him"
Frank Prather, of Oso, who has been suffering with paralysis of the lower
limbs for several months as a result of being caught in a rock slide, was
taken to the county hospital at Monroe Monday, being accompanied by Arthur
Prathr and Duncan McGillevray. He was brouhgt down the river in a canoe by
H.C. Ruthruff and Calvin Hollingsworth. The family's resources having been
depleted by his long illness, and owing to his father's sickness being
unable to give him proper care, it was thought best to send him where these
requisites would be supplied.
LATER: Sup't Conway refused to care for the patient at the county institution,
claiming his contract only includes the destitute who are not in need of
nursing. He was brought back to Arlington, and will either be taken home or
to the hospital in Everett. He is very weak.

"His Suffering Ended"
The protracted and painful illness of Frank Prather was terminated last Sunday
evening at the Everett hospital by the interpositon of the grim reaper. He
reached the hospital at about 5:30, and died the same evening about 9 o'clock.
No one was with him at the time but a nurse, who said he died very hard. He
was brought back to Arlington Tuesday and taken home the following day.
The interment took place at Oso Wednesday afternoon, Rev. J.R. Setser
officiating.
Frank Prather was a son of Mr. and Mrs. L.C. Prather, of Oso, and was 19 years
old. He received sever injuries in a rock slide last fall affecting his spine
and causing paralysis of the lower portion of his body. He had a strong will
and robust constitution, else this sad paragraph might have been penned months
ago.
