  George was 14 yrs old at his fathers death. His fathers murder was the first man to be hanged in the "villiage" of St.Louis,Mo./ He returned to Shady Grove Pa. where he lived until his marriage and shortly after his 3rd child was born he returned to Mo. where he settled on Meramec River, about 16 miles from St.Louis. George built a Grist Mill and Carding Factory which he operated for many years.
