  Jonathan served in the Rev. War. He was posted with his brother Thomas to guard the lead mines, at what is now Wytheville, VA. They served under Col. Charles Lynch. Washington Co., VA. = Land Grants / Book #1 ;132 Jonathan Preter, 110 acres on upper North Fork of Clinch River, the Cove; Warrant #8186; 21 May, 1783 Private; VA. Pension $30 annual allowance $90 already recieved / started on 15 June, 1833 at age 76. (VA. Pension Roll of 1835) Bedford Co., VA. Sept., 30, 1786 Jonathan Prather & Sarah Moseley, dau. Edward Mozley; James Mozley, Surety. Married by Nathaniel Shrewsbury, Oct., 14, 1786 Jonathan moved to Ohio in 1800/01.
