  Josiah Turner Prather: This deed sets up that whereas: James Prather Sr., deceased, by this Will dated 1 Nov., 1783, devised to his son, Josiah Turner Prather, the plantation on which Testator dwelt, know as "Batchelor's Forest", 55 acres and also land known as "Hog Harbour", it being part of same conveyed to James Prather Sr. bu his father (William Nathan Prather II.) and whereas: the said Josiah Turner Prather had only a life interest under the provisions of said Will, and it is thought by the parties to this conveyance that said James intended to devise to his said son Josiah Turner Prather, in fee simple, now, therefore, these grantors, heir-in-law of the said James Prather Sr., testator, unite in this conveyance for carrying the property mentioned to the said Josiah Turner Prather in fee simple. (research by Stout Lillard) Josiah is listed in a census record as having 8 children, but the early census does not list their names. None of these children were by his first wife.
