Richard Prater bought the Manor of Nunney Glaston, from Richard Prater,
alais ...... JOHN PARKER on 1st. May, 1577. (On the 19 Elizabeth, 1st. May
Richard, also called John Parker in consideration of the sum of 58s. 8d. paid
to the Queen, was licensed to alienate to Richard Prater, gentleman, all that
the Lordship and Manor of Nunney Glaston, with all rights, &c., and also half
the advowson of Nunney valued at L 8 10s, fine 6s.8d. 'which of us are held
in capite', to have and to hold the same for ever, at the usual coustoms, &c.
Note:
The "alais" John Parker is due to Richard Prater being the representative
of John Parker.
Will of Richard Prater:
Richard Prater, Yeoman, of Hooke, parish of Liddiard Tregoze in county of
Wiltshire.
Will dated 18 Mar., 1641/2 and proved 20 Sept. 1642.
To parish church of Liddiard Tregoze 3/4. To poor of said parish 10/ -.
To son Giles Prater -L 30 featherbed and furnishings. To daughter, Marian
Harward 20/-. To daughter Susan Hooper 20/-. To daughter, Elizabeth George
20/-. To daughter Alice Sadler 20/-. To daughter, Dusebell -L 90 with
featherbed if she dies within one year of decease then daughter Susannna
Hooper's children to have -L 40 of said money similarly, daughter Marian
Harwood's children to have -L 40 equally divided. Daugheter Ducebell to have
disposal of remainding -L 10 with bed etc. To youngest daughter Anne Prater
-L 80 with featherbed and furnishings at the age of 20. If she dies before
wife to have disposal of same. Residue, debts, funeral expenses and legacies
paid, to wife Katherine Prater, she to be sole Executrix. John Torke of
Lyddiard Traygoose, gentleman and Gyles Alworth of South Leass, parish of
Wroughton in the county of Wiltshire, Esquire to be Overseers. John Weehes,
William Whitway, the younger and William Woolford, Witnesses.
