    • Her father was Henry Bruce Dudley and mother was Elizabeth America Moore.
      He early life was affected by the death of her father in jalapa, Mexico (1847)
      where he had gone with Cat. Cox as a volunteer in the Mex. War. Her mother
      Eliz., died at an early age, Jan. 1, 1859 leaving Russia in the care of her
      maternal grandparents. John H. and Suzan Cord Moore. Tragedy struck again when
      her grandfather died after spending sone time in a northern prison during the
      Civil War.
      Russia taught one year in an elementary school in Flemingsburg, Ky. at the age
      of 17. It was while she was teaching that a young soldier returning from the
      southern army saw her and said to himself, "I'm going to marry that little
      widow". Russia was wearing mourning for her grandfather.
      The soldier was William Wallace Prater, who in 1864, became her husband. In
      about 1866 they migrated to Cass Co., Mo. living about one mile east of
      Pleasant Hill, Mo. He died in 1888 leaving her with a family to raise.

      Hite: Father Col. John Hite officer of Va. Colonial troops 1710-1792
      who was the son of Joost Hite and Anna Marie Du Bois. He married
      Sara Elting who was daughter of Cornelius Elting & Rebecca Van Meter 1686-1755
      Parents of Rebecca Van Meter was Joost Jansen Van Meteren who came with his
      father from Holland in 1662 married Sara Du Bois 1662-1706.
      The parents of Sara Du Bois were Louis Du Bois 1626-1695 married 1655 to
      Catherine Blanchen b. 1629, Artois, France d. 1713 Kingston, N.Y., they were
      French Huguenots who arrived in this country 1660 seeking religious freedom.
