  • Notes
    • Elizabeth family came from Antrim, North Ireland.
Her husband Thomas went west in about 1801, accompanied by his two sons
Abram (age 15) and Robert (age 13). He arranged for the purchase of a 4
hundred acre tract, and having built a cabin and left sufficient provisions,
returned to the east leaving the two boys in charge. It is related that the
Indians stole all they had except a supply of cornmeal, and they subsisted
upon the charity of the neighbors until the return of their father and
family three months later. Then he moved near the river at East Hickory,
Forest Co., where he resided until his death, 15 Feb., 1818.
The son Abram C. Prather returned to Franklin Co. and learned the trade of
Tanner. He was drafted for service in the War of 1812. After the close of
his term of enlistment he returned to visit his father at East Hickory.
Upon returning he found the 400 acre tract the they had lived on in
1801/02 was still unoccupied, thus he desided to complete the purchase.
He afterward volunteered for the defense of Erie. He built a log house and
afterward a frame building on the Warren road east of Plumer and engaged in
      the Tanning business.

Thomas served in the Revolutionary War under Captain William Berryhill in the
years 1780/81, from Antrim Township, Cumberland Co., Pa.
He also fought in the War of 1812.
