  Maurice Prathers parents divorced and Maurice was raised by his mother and his grandmother Clara Rohbacker. After adulthood he moved to Kansas City, Mo. and married in 1925. He then moved to Miami, Fla. wher he worked in house construction with his step-father, Al Nester. While in Miami they had a son, Maurice William Prather in 1926. They returned to Kansas City, Mo. in 1926 and Maurice J. went to work for Greenwoods Restaurant Fixtures Co., making and installing restaurant fixtures until 1965 when he retired. In 1928 they had a daughter, Laura Jo. Maurice's wife, Zora, died in 1972 and he moved to St. Ann, Mo. to live with his daughter, Laura, until his death in 1974.
