  History of Logan Co., Ohio (1982): John served in the 96th Reg. of the Ohio Vol. Infantry furing the Civil War, and was a prisoner of the war taken at Arkansas Post during that conflict. He left the service in July, 1865, and returned to the Huntsville area, where he married Katherine Bennett on Nov. 2, 1865. He farmed near Bickham Bridge area and some time in the 1880's sold his farland and the family moved to Russell's Point where they operated the Bulkhead Hotel.
