11 Jan., 1815, Middleton Praytor of Buncombe Co., N.C. sells to Elias Green
Cooks of Greenville dist. for $200. - all that tract of land left me by the
last Will and testament of my father, Middleton Praytor deceased. this land
.... is bounded by William Prater, John Middletons still house.
Wits: alexander Cooks, John Bethany, appeared before Robert Cooks, J.P.
recorded 5 June, 1815.
Soon after his fathers death he and his brother left S.C.
William went to Buncombe Co., N.C. and then later to GA.
Middleton went 1st. to St. Clair Co., Ala. and was in there in the 1850
census, shortly later settled at Sumter, Sumter Co., Ala. where he built the
"Cedars Plantation" in late 1850.

ADMINISTRATOR'S SALE
By virtue of a decree of the Probate Court of Sumter Co., AL.
I will sell on MONDAY, the 27th day of March A.D. 1854, the following
described property belonging to the Estate of MIDDLETON A. PRAYTOR,
dec'd, to wit.
Four Horses, lot of Cattle, Hogs, Carpenter's Tools, Household and Kitchen
Furniture, 150 bushels Corn, Fodder, 1200 lbs. Bacon, lot of Oats, 1 Wagon
and 2 yokes of Oxen.
Terms of sale -- Crdit 12 months, with interest from date purchaser giving
notes with two approved securities. All sums under $5, cash.

The Plantation which still stands about 2 miles South/Southeast of the small
community of Sumter,Sumter Co.,Ala. was owned by the son of Julia Praytor
Killingsworth, he died about 1995 and his sister now owns it.
"The Cedars Plantation" was built in 1850 and named after the beautiful cedars
which lined the road leading to Sumter. Cedars continue to grow in some areas
