Nehemiah Martin Prather was an "Elder" in the German Baptist Church.
Many Prathers were involved with the "German" families that settled in the
areas where they lived. In some cases, such as the case of Nehemiah, they
married into German families and some descendants continue the use of the
German language. For this reason many have thought that the Prather \ Prater
families are from Germany, but this is not true........ they are from England.

He is listed in the 1820 Grayson Co., VA. ; 1830 Montg. Co., VA. ; 1840
Grayson Co., VA. ; 1850 Fayette Co. (Floyd Co.) census as head of household.
