  In a letter I recieved Sept., 1996 from Stanley A. Prather: "My paternal grandfather, John Parker Prather was the son of John Alfred Prather and a half-indian woman named Josephine, maiden name unknown. Family bible records say she was born in Ellis Co., TX. Josephine was the housekeeper for John and we assume that John was married at the time Josephine had his child. There was much trouble in the family over this but John A. Prather saw to it that his son was cared for.
