  !In Creedy-Wiger ,John Prideaux,serjeant at law bought property and left it to his son Thomas Prideaux of Nutwell,Esq.He had a son ,Sir Thomas Prideaux.Nutwell is six miles south of Exeter and across the river from Powderham. He sold it.In the vil lage of Knowle,it was passed through several families to William Hoddy,whose Dau.m Richard Spencer.The last Spencer's dau.Joan,was the wife of Stephen Gifford;Alice,their dau.brought this and Theoborow,with herself,to William Prideaux of Adeston,Esq.and Richard Prideaux of Theoborow,Esq.gave it to Humphrey Prideaux,his youngest son,whose son Bevil Prideaux sold it to Sir Simon Leache.I hope to find enough of this line to connect.another spelling"Prydeaux".Sir Thomas Prideaux married the coheiress of Cole. Sharpham,in the time of Henry IV,was the proprty of Robert Winard,who had issue Anne,wife of Robert French. They had issue Amy,2nd wife of John Prideaux of Addiston,near Modbury,who had issue Joan,married William Drewe,and Elizabeth to William Somerset of Nether-Exe.Sharpham fell to the portion of Joan,from whom descended Edward Drewe,Esq.serjeant at la w to Queen Elizabeth.This far Sir W.Pole--" Serjeant Drewe made considerable purchases in Combe-Raleigh,Broadhembury,Broadclift,and elsewhere;and sold Sharpham,which had large demesnes belonging to it to John Giles,Esq.of Bowdon"Prince.
