• Notes

  He left Crab Orchard, KY. in 1816 and went to IL. on horseback. While in ILL. he worked by the month on a farm for 2 yrs. then returned with his savings and purchased 75 head of cattle to take back to ILL. He lost half of them on the trip but was able to sell the other half in at Alton, ILL. He then returned to Ky. and later married before returning again to ILL. He settled first near American Bottom and then Carrollton in 1824.
