Notes - He was a horse breeder and farmer.
He migrated to Davidson Co., TN. with his brother, John & Betsy Stegall
Wilkes, near the Harpeth River near the city of Nashville, TN.
He bought 100 acres on Cumberland River, Davidson Co., Tn. in 1805.
His estate settlement and inventory first appeared in Davidson Co., in 1810.
In settlement, Benjamin Wilkes bought a colt, and Burwell Wilkes of VA. was
paid for a stud horse. (This Burwell Wilkes, of Charlie Hope Plantation,
Brunswick Co., VA. was famous in the South for breeding "Quarter Horses".
He was the "surety" at the wedding of his youngest sister Frances Wilkes to
Littleberry Baugh.
He was also a witness at the wedding of his next-to-youngest sister, Minah
Wilkes to Benjamin Rawlings.
