  He was a Royalist and led the defense of Shrewsbury in behalf of "God and King" against Cromwell's doggone Baptist (Puritans). The siege of Shrewbury was broken by Cromwell's army about 1645/50. Records suggest that John was executed while others suggest he was baished (transported) to the Colonies. But it is certain that his sons, William and Thomas were banished to the Colonies as "bonded" (indentured) servants.
