Notes - Edward was educated in Ky. at Millersburg Wesleyon College. He taught school
and was head of a school of Penmanship. He and his brother Van went to DeKalb,
Mo in 1873, where they taught in the town school. Later his mother and brother
Walter came to DeKalb. Their home was what was known in 1956 as the old
Sam Dunlap home. (a block west of south side of squarre) On July 19, 1958
rebecca Ingman was born in Lancaster, Ohio. Her family later moved to Nodaway
Co., Mo. There she and Edward met and were married. In 1887 they took up a
homestead in Gove Co., Kans. where they built and lived in a sod house. Later
became owner of a large and well improved ranch. They engaged in extensive
farming and cattle raising. Edward Prather was active in the Demorcratic
Parrty and held office of State fire Insurance and Inspector, and later a
member of the house of Representatives.
