Notes - John went by the name John "Smith" or John Henry "Smith" and went to
India for the East India Company under that name.
It is thought that he returned to England after his fathers death and
settled in Birmingham, England, at which time he resumed using the name
John Wilkes.
John Wilke Jr. was an heir listed in his fathers Will.
John Wilkes Jr. married Ann Aston and had a son named John Aston Wilkes.
Other sources state that John Aston Wilkes was a son of a John Wilkes, who
was a Clockmaker of Birmingham, England. A man of sterling Character, who
lived to be 80 years of age.
Of course these two Johns could be one in the same because John Wilkes Jr.
had another son, Samuel Wilkes, by his 2nd. wife, Sarah Robotham who was
also a Clockmaker in Birmingham in 1845.
