  He assumed the name of Robert Browning and remarried another woman He headed a large cattle drive from N.M. to El Paso, Tx., taking his brothers and other ranchers cattle to the rail head there. After reaching El Paso he took his share of the profits and left, with one of his female students, for Ca./ He sent a message to his brothers, telling them to take care of his wife,children,and ranch until his return.He did not return and his brother John took his ranch. Sam settled in Santa Rosa and assumed his mothers name "Browning" which continues today.
