Notes - He was a Confed. officer with the rank of Lt.
His Mill was located at Varners Station, N.E. of Dalton, GA.
He operated this Mill, supplying the Confed. Army.
The Union captured and held the Mill during the later years of the war,
but allowed Benjamin to continue to operate it under their supervision.
He built "Praters Mill" in 1859, at Dalton, Ga. The Mill, Praters Store, and
his Plantation home still stand today. "Praters Mill Fair" is held there twice
a year. The property is managed by Praters Mill Foundation, Inc.
The property is located N.E. of Dalton, Ga. on Hyw. #2 just E. of Hyw. #71.
The fair is held Mothers Day weekend and Columbus Day weekend each year.
