  * Traveled from Ramer to Jackson, TN in the fall of 1862 to enlist * in Forrest's Cavalry on December 28, 1862. He was in Company A (Barnhill * Co) of the 19th Tennessee Cavalry - also known as Newsom's 18th Tennessee * Cavalry - served with his cousin Thomas Henry Prather (son of William * Prather) returned to farming in McNairy Co. at the end of the war. * Lived in Lawrence Co. for about ten years where he met & married Malissa * Dwiggins - returned to farm in McNairy about 1880.
