  When 8 years of age we find that John moved to, Williamton Springs and Belton in Anderson Co., S.C., to live with relatives. (research by Judy R. Prather, Lindale, TX. /1996) He was in Tate Co., Miss. in the 1880 census, but by 1884 we find him living in Little Rock, Ark. When he was recorded living in Miss., records spelled his name Prather, Prator and Praythor. In the 1880 Miss. census, the census taker spelled his name as J.J. Praither. John Joseph Prather was living at 1721 Gains Little Rock, Ark. when he died.
