  !The Kingsleys,so the family tradition runs,descend from Randulphus de Kyngesleigh,of Chester,1120,through his grandson Randulphus,Keeper of the forest of Delamere,1166.Canon Kingsley,of Westminster,declared the forebears of the American Kingsley s and his own ancestors to be the same:"One settling in New England to found there a whole new family of Kingsleys,while his brother in the Parliamentary army was helping to defeat Charles I at Marston Moor." John Kingsley,from Hampshire,was on e of the original purchasers of Taunton,Mass.;but he settled in 1635 in Dorchester,where he had a share in the Great Lots,1646.Late in life he moved to Rehoboth,near Taunton,where he died,abt 1679.He is known to be living there in 1672.His wife' s name has not been discovered.Inthe book,Genealogy of Conn.I find Steven Kinsley [no G ] He is believed to be a brother of John Kingsley of Dorchester.Both are immigrants.
