Hida Caines (daughter of Jack Casines & Aminta Patton) is my husbands
grandmother.
She remembers her grandmother, Alafair Prater Patton.
she says she always wore long black skirts with pockets, to hide her
cigarettes and other odd things.
(apparently she still kept some of her indian ways)
Now we guess that Alafair Prater could possibly have been an indian girl that
the Praters adopted, and then she married John Riley Patton?Sizemore, who was
also indian.
The story goes; a little girl was taken by indians, and a group went out to
retrieve her.
They came across the hunting party at night and snuck up to the campfire and
saw three little girls by firelight.
They didn't know which was theirs, so they snatched them all.
Either Alafair, OR Joyhn Riley came from this line. ???????
