Notes:

William enlisted in the Union Army from Johnson Co., Mo. in 1864. He became
ill while in the army and was discharged with disability after 6 months in the
hospital. William Prater had removed to Monterey Co., Ca. for reasons of
health and the whole family was in Calif. for a while in the 1870's. William
appears on a voter registration in Monterey Co., Ca., he shortly afterwords
moved to Pineville, Mo. where he died as a result of the lung problem incurred
during his Army service. (possibly T.B.) (Civil War)
