Avery Prather Dies

Greatly to the sorrow of many Manchester friends, Avery Prather, a former employee of the Eclipse Lumber Company, passed away at Finley Hospital in Dubuque on November 25, 1931, after 3 weeks of intense suffering. Mr. Prather was 28 years of age, and was born in Urbana, Ill., May 31, 1903. On September 11, 1926, he was married to Miss Matilda Graham and they resided here until about a year ago, when they moved to Dubuque. Surviving him are the widow, a 5 year old son, Harold, his mother, Mrs. Albert Reed of Masonville, and a half brother, Laverne. His father died several years ago.

Funeral services were held at the Shelly Funeral Chapel in this city Friday afternoon, the Rev. M. C. Powers officiating, and burial was made in Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. Prather was highly thought of by all who knew him here as a young man of integrity and steadiness of character, and deep sympathy is felt for the members of his family in this great sorrow.

Further research has shown that Avery's father had not died, but had moved to South Dakota where he started a new life after his divorce from Cordie May Reese.

My research on Avery continues...
